Here is a message from Assistant Principal Barnes about our upcoming Testing Day on Oct 10:
The purpose of this message is to provide you with some important information regarding the October 10th Testing Day at Wheeler High School. The 9th – 11th grade will be participating in the following tests: 9th - PACT 9th - Repeaters (Scholar’s Institute) 10th - PSAT/NMSQT 10th - Repeaters (Scholar’s Institute) 11th - YouScience 11th - PSAT/NMSQT (Paying Juniors for National Merit Recognition) 12th - Senior Field Day The students’ scores on PSAT/NMSQT and the PACT will not be calculated into their overall academic grades. Its sole purpose is to give them exposure to the type of standardized tests they will be taking at some point as a high school student, i.e. ACT & SAT. The PSAT/NMSQT Student Guide that the 10th and paying 11th graders received is to provide them general information about the practice assessment and the accompanying Practice Test is for them to familiarize themselves with the types of questions they will be asked to complete on October 10th. Click here for additional PSAT practice support. The non-paying 11th graders will be taking the YouScience assessment, which is an online career and personal planning discovery tool that enables them to identify their potential aptitudes and careers. All first time freshman will be taking the PACT. All of our 9th and 10th grade repeaters will be attending informative sessions with presenters discussing academics, making the right choices, etc. Lastly, our seniors will be participating in a Senior Field Day. If your student is a first time freshman, please click here to gain access to a practice ACT test for them to prepare as well. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Christian Barnes. Student Survey Welcome to the 18-19 school year! I am excited to have you with me this semester to learn about physics. Reminders: I will be using Remind to send periodic updates and reminders via text message. I strongly encourage both students and parents to sign up. See the Remind page under the Physics menu or click on the PDF below to learn how.
Everyone should have received a syllabus on the first day. If you need one, it is posted below. Remember, you need to turn in the last page with you and your parent's signatures by Monday, August 6.
